Senior Counsel, Employment Law

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Counsel to provide strategic U.S. employment law support for its global business. The role is based in Purchase, NY with a hybrid work arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted U.S. employment law expert, delivering timely and practical advice across recruiting, talent development, EEO, leave management, global mobility, compensation, terminations, and compliance.
• Support integration of the Recorded Future acquisition, coordinate with regional counsel, and advise on M&A employment aspects.
• Defend the company in investigations, litigation, regulatory inquiries, and manage outside counsel.
• Negotiate and draft complex employment contracts, offers, and related documents.
• Monitor employment law developments and create tools, templates, and training for the People & Capability team.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar (Massachusetts Bar a plus).
• Solid U.S. employment law experience, preferably in‑house with global exposure.
• Proactive, collaborative, and able to manage a heavy workload in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
