About the role
The Environmental Project Assessor leads the direction, completion, and outcome of assigned building assessment projects in line with ASTM standards and client scopes. This part‑time, as‑needed position is remote but requires frequent travel to client sites across the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct on‑site assessments and prepare written reports covering Property Condition Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos/lead/radon sampling, seismic reports, structural and roofing surveys, ADA checklists, and construction monitoring.
- Review historical and regulatory records, communicate with local building, zoning, and fire departments, and identify any outstanding violations.
- Travel up to 50% of the workweek by plane, vehicle, or train, with typical patterns of one day on‑site followed by one day remote.
- Maintain project communication with leadership, update report delivery timelines, and ensure confidentiality of company information.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant experience (or five years of experience in lieu of a degree).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Preferred certifications: AHERA, Asbestos Inspector, or OSHA 40‑hour.
Required skills
- Knowledge of ASTM standards and client‑specific assessment scopes.
- Experience with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos/lead/radon sampling, seismic reporting, structural and roofing surveys.
- Ability to conduct ADA compliance assessments and pre‑construction document reviews.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed written reports using computers, tablets, or other electronic devices.
