Director of AI Strategic Partnerships

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a senior leader to shape and drive AI strategic partnerships. The role will bridge external AI innovators with Mastercard’s internal business priorities, helping translate emerging technologies into commercial opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of strategic partnerships with leading AI companies, startups, venture‑backed innovators, and technology providers.
• Structure, negotiate, and execute partnership agreements from sourcing through signature.
• Own exploratory engagements, pilot programs, and proof‑of‑concept initiatives with AI partners.
• Manage partner onboarding and operationalization across Product, Engineering, Legal, and Business teams.
• Identify, evaluate, and advance partnership opportunities that align with Mastercard’s AI roadmap.
• Drive cross‑functional alignment to execute complex partnership initiatives.
• Collaborate with product and business leaders to uncover high‑impact AI‑enabled innovation opportunities.
• Support engagement with Mastercard Start Path participants and other startup partners.
• Monitor AI market developments, competitive dynamics, and emerging technology trends to generate actionable insights.
• Develop executive‑level recommendations on partnership opportunities and market trends.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective AI partners.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or strategy.
• Deep expertise in artificial intelligence and a strong network across the AI community.
• Proven ability to translate emerging technologies into strategic business opportunities.
• Experience negotiating and structuring partnership agreements.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills with product, engineering, legal, and business teams.
