Backend Engineer

About the role

Resend is building a modern email sending platform and needs a senior backend engineer to own features end‑to‑end, design reliable distributed systems, and operate the infrastructure that powers millions of daily emails.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship APIs, dashboards, and backend services from concept to production.
• Develop and maintain distributed systems such as queues, background workers, and retry mechanisms.
• Scale APIs and databases, improve performance, data integrity, and efficiency.
• Operate services with monitoring, safe deployments, and on‑call rotation.
• Collaborate with support and customers to turn recurring problems into product improvements.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend services in production.
• Proven experience with queues, asynchronous processing, and handling distributed system failures.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, deployments, observability, and capacity planning.
• Ability to design APIs, relational data models, and safely modify databases.
• Experience managing infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CDK.
