Air Traffic Controller – Jackson Tower

About the role

Responsible for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic in a Visual Flight Rules (VFR) airport tower. Works under the supervision of the tower manager and performs duties independently after training.

Key responsibilities

• Manage departures and arrivals, ensuring proper sequencing, runway usage, and separation for both IFR and VFR traffic.
• Monitor communications frequencies, navigational aids, and tower radar displays, providing pilots with clearances, frequency changes, and transponder codes.
• Coordinate with other controllers, pre‑plan traffic sequencing within a 5‑mile radius, and maintain continuous situational awareness of changing traffic.
• Study weather reports, issue field condition information, operate lighting and runway equipment, and respond to emergencies.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Air Traffic Controller.
• Current or previous Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certificate with a facility rating.
• Current Class II Medical Certificate.
• Willingness to undergo DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing.

Required skills

• Control Tower Operator Certificate (CTO).

• Proficiency with IFR/VFR procedures and radar/display equipment.
• Ability to interpret weather reports and operate tower lighting and signaling devices.
