Account Manager, Third-Party Manufacturing (Medical Devices)

About the role

AbbVie is looking for an Account Manager for its Third-Party Manufacturing function, covering external manufacturing of medical devices. The role acts as the focal point for products made for AbbVie by Third-Party Manufacturers (TPMs) or for Third-Party Customers (TPCs), and may also cover pharmaceutical products and combination products. It serves as the main interface between the customer or manufacturer and AbbVie's support areas.

Key responsibilities

• Build working relationships with TPMs and TPCs, travel to their sites and act as the primary AbbVie interface with their executive management
• Ensure contract commitments are fulfilled by both parties and resolve issues, engaging AbbVie resources as needed
• Assess TPM capacity against long-range plan forecasts and proactively communicate concerns
• Identify opportunities to in-source or out-source products and to consolidate work among TPMs
• Negotiate new and extended contracts, set performance metrics and keep contract information in the contract manufacturing databases
• Track key dates and milestones, identify TPMs for new and existing products and support new product launches and transfers
• Maintain a TPM capability and due diligence database with worldwide knowledge of TPM technology, performance, benefits, limitations and capacity

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Operations, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing, program management, materials management, logistics, QA, marketing, business development or engineering
• Demonstrated success in financial analysis, negotiations and project management
• Experience supporting combination products and/or medical devices is preferred; medical device experience is particularly valued
• Team-oriented, able to manage multiple accounts and understand regulatory and compliance requirements for manufacturing and contracts
