Tax Associate – Public Finance, Infrastructure & P3

About the role

Nixon Peabody is seeking a motivated Tax Associate to join its Project Finance and Public Finance Practice Group. The associate will work on complex public‑finance and infrastructure transactions, providing tax advice to a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior tax attorneys on public‑finance and infrastructure finance deals.
• Analyze and advise on federal tax issues, tax credits, and Section 501(c)(3) matters.
• Support IRS audit responses and related compliance work.
• Prepare tax opinions, memoranda, and client communications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality client service.

Required profile

• Three or more years of experience focusing on tax issues in public‑finance or infrastructure finance transactions.
• Strong academic credentials and excellent judgment.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to delivering excellent client service.

Required skills

• Knowledge of federal tax law, tax‑exempt financing, and IRS audit procedures.
• Familiarity with tax credits and nonprofit (501(c)(3)) structures.
