Toolmaker – Precision Manufacturing

About the role

Moog is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join its Murphy, NC machine shop. The role focuses on the design, fabrication, repair and calibration of tools, jigs, fixtures, dies and molds that support high‑precision manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Construct, maintain and calibrate machine shop tools, stamping dies, molds and related fixtures to tolerances of ±0.0001.
• Operate a variety of CNC and manual machine tools, perform layout, fitting, assembly and machining of parts from stock.
• Interpret engineering drawings, sketches and work orders, create sketches or layouts, and consult handbooks as needed.
• Perform heat‑treating, grinding and other special processes, including first‑article runs for new dies.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on tooling experience (trade school not counted).
• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and precision machining.
• Capability to work to tight tolerances of ±0.0001.

• Machine tool operation (CNC and manual).

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings.
