Teacher Academic – Bessemer Group Home

About the role

Alabama Clinical Schools is seeking an Academic Teacher for its Bessemer Group Home. The role involves delivering curriculum and instructional support to at‑risk youth in a therapeutic residential setting, ensuring compliance with state and school requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement curriculum, classroom schedules, and lesson plans tailored to individual student needs.
• Review referral assessments and student histories to develop appropriate IEPs and treatment plans.
• Prepare data and goals for IEP and treatment planning meetings.
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies and interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the educational and emotional development of students.

Required profile

• Experience working with at‑risk youth or in a behavioral health educational setting.
• Understanding of state educational standards and requirements.
• Ability to assess and address physical, emotional, and developmental needs of students.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and treatment planning processes.
• Curriculum development and lesson planning expertise.
