Summer Communications & Outreach Internship for Sophomores

About the role

The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship in the Communications & Outreach Group offers undergraduate sophomores a ten‑week, full‑time experience at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Interns work on real projects that develop, coordinate, and disseminate information about the Bank’s activities to external audiences while engaging with community, business, and civic leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and distributing communication materials about the New York Fed.
• Support outreach and education initiatives targeting students, educators, small‑business owners, and the general public.
• Gather community feedback and help design programming that reflects local economic needs.
• Collaborate with the Community Development team to understand the economic experiences of lower‑income households.
• Participate in cohort‑based learning events and professional development sessions.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate sophomore.
• Strong interest in communications, public outreach, or community development.
• Willingness to work onsite in New York for the full ten‑week period.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and engage with external stakeholders.
