Remote Part‑Time Faculty – Information Literacy

About the role

Excelsior seeks remote, part‑time faculty to deliver its Information Literacy course. Instructors will guide undergraduate and graduate students through weekly modules using pre‑written materials and asynchronous instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the course as designed, completing weekly tasks from a university‑provided checklist.
• Post video announcements each week outlining student tasks and expectations.
• Hold virtual office hours and respond to student inquiries via Canvas messages and discussion forums.
• Moderate group discussion forums, review student postings, and provide feedback.
• Grade discussion posts and other student work.
• Collaborate with the department chair and fellow instructors to improve instructional resources and support student success.

Required profile

• Research‑based master’s degree or doctorate in an arts & sciences field or information/library science.
• Experience mentoring library‑based undergraduate research and writing projects.
• Prior experience teaching online at the college level.
• Experience working with non‑traditional student populations (working adults, veterans, first‑generation students, historically disadvantaged groups).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canvas LMS.
