Registered Nurse - ED - PRN Nights

About the role

This PRN (as‑needed) night‑shift position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, delivering patient advocacy and continuity of care for adult, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ongoing assessments of physiologic, psychological and cognitive status.
• Develop and prioritize goal‑directed care plans based on nursing diagnoses.
• Implement care consistently to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Prioritize patient needs using available resources (time, personnel, equipment).
• Respond calmly and efficiently to emergency situations following established protocols.
• Apply knowledge of medical/surgical care, pain assessment, pharmaceuticals, lab values, safety and legal issues.
• Identify problems, make sound decisions, and resolve issues promptly.
• Document accurately and timely in patient records.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive care.
• Maintain current CPR/ACLS/PALS certifications and attend mandatory in‑service training.
• Adhere to patient rights policies and execute physician orders professionally.
• Assist with additional duties as needed.

Required profile

• Degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Active Texas Registered Nurse licensure.
• Minimum three years of Emergency Room nursing experience in an acute‑care hospital.
• Current ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications at time of hire.
