Regional Legal Counsel – Vegetable Seeds (NAJAK)

About the role

The Regional Legal Counsel will support Syngenta Seeds' Vegetable Seeds business across NAJAK (North America, Japan, Australia, and Korea). Working in a hybrid model from North Carolina or Illinois, you will provide proactive, commercial‑focused legal advice to mitigate risk and drive profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the NAJAK Vegetable Seeds team on transactional matters, including distribution, collaboration, quality claims, litigation, and IP agreements.
• Lead and coordinate legal aspects of strategic and corporate projects for the business unit.
• Represent global headquarters in delivering corporate training on competition law compliance and other legal topics.
• Ensure all regional activities comply with Syngenta’s Code of Conduct, group policies, and applicable laws.
• Draft, negotiate, and finalize definitive agreements and support the creation, amendment, and termination of commercial relationships.
• Collaborate with internal functional departments to align business proposals and projects with legal requirements.

Required profile

• Law degree (J.D., LL.B., or equivalent) with admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction.
• Significant experience in corporate, transactional, and competition law, preferably within the agriculture or seed industry.
• Proven ability to provide commercial‑oriented legal advice and to train non‑legal personnel.
• Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
