About the role

The Superintendent of Buffalo Public Schools seeks transformational leaders to serve as principals across multiple school sites. Principals will provide comprehensive building leadership, overseeing all school programs and partnering with district leaders to meet district-wide goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead instructional, academic, emotional, and physical support for approximately 34,000 students district‑wide.
• Collaborate with district leadership to implement the New Education Bargain and drive district transformation.
• Manage school operations, staffing, budgeting, and compliance with state and district policies.
• Foster a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement to prepare students for college and careers.

Required profile

• Current Buffalo Public Schools employee.
• Master’s degree and a New York State SDA, SAS, SBL, or Administrator certification at time of application.
• Minimum eight years of combined certificated teaching and supervisory experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Prior principal or administrative experience in an urban or highly diverse district is preferred.
