Assistant Principal – Various Locations (Internal Candidates Only)

About the role

The Buffalo Public Schools district is seeking qualified internal candidates to serve as Assistant Principals across multiple school locations for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Reporting directly to the school Principal, the Assistant Principal will help drive the district’s transformation initiatives and support the academic, emotional, and physical needs of approximately 34,000 students.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Principal in day‑to‑day school operations and leadership.
• Develop and maintain clear communication channels among staff, students, parents, and district administrators.
• Create and implement a Comprehensive Education Plan aligned with district vision and goals.
• Oversee instructional programs, student discipline, and school safety procedures.
• Support teacher evaluation, professional development, and curriculum implementation.
• Collaborate with district leadership to advance the New Education Bargain initiatives.

Required profile

• Current employee of Buffalo Public Schools.
• Master’s degree and a valid New York State School District Administrator (SDA), School Supervisor (SAS), School Building Leader (SBL), or Administrator certification at the time of application.
• Minimum five years of certificated teaching or approved supervisory experience.
• Prior assistant principal or administrative experience in an urban district is preferred.
