About the role
The California Department of Public Health is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to serve as a Nurse Surveyor. In this role you will inspect, investigate, and evaluate health care facilities across the state to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct inspections, surveys, and investigations of health facilities for licensing and certification compliance.
- Assess conformity with state laws, rules, and federal regulations covering nursing, physician, pharmacy, dental, and related services.
- Provide guidance to facility administrators and community agencies on inspection and licensing programs.
- Document findings, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Travel extensively throughout California to perform on‑site evaluations.
Required profile
- Valid Registered Nursing (RN) license in California.
- Ability to work independently under the direction of the Nurse Surveyor Supervisor II.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the state.
- Strong understanding of state and federal health care regulations.
Required skills
- Valid RN license (credential verification required).
