About the role
The Clinical Interpreter provides professional language interpretation services for patients, families, and clinical staff within the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This role ensures accurate, culturally appropriate communication during medical encounters, supporting high‑quality patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret spoken and written communication for clinical appointments, procedures, and consultations.
- Translate medical documents, discharge instructions, and patient education materials.
- Assist patients in understanding treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow‑up care.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and institutional policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to facilitate effective communication.
Required profile
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
- Fluency in English and at least one additional language commonly spoken in the community.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
