Maintenance Technician – Student Living at Merrimack College

About the role

The Maintenance Technician supports the physical upkeep of Merrimack College student housing, ensuring buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas meet Greystar’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Complete work orders from resident requests and perform preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues and repairing according to policies, safety standards, and code requirements.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant apartments, including inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor coordination, supply procurement, maintenance tasks, and final inspections.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment, tracking usage, returning unused items, and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Document service requests accurately and promptly to ensure proper tracking.
• Assist with grounds and common‑area upkeep such as trash removal, pressure‑washing, general cleaning, and painting of curbs and signage.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing rather than replacing parts when feasible and using materials efficiently.
• Adhere to Greystar’s safety and risk‑management policies, participating in routine safety activities.

Required profile

• Ability to perform technical and mechanical tasks in a residential property setting.
• Strong attention to detail for inspections, documentation, and inventory management.
• Commitment to safety standards and willingness to follow established procedures.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with residents, vendors, and supervisors.
