Hotel General Manager

About the role

The Hotel General Manager will lead all operations of a mid-size hotel on New York’s Lower East Side, acting as the key link between the property owner and the hotel team. This senior role is responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring guest satisfaction and developing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance to guarantee seamless daily operations.
• Conduct regular property walkthroughs to monitor quality standards and building upkeep.
• Handle escalated guest complaints and maintain high-level customer satisfaction.
• Assume full P&L responsibility, set revenue targets, manage budgets and forecast performance.
• Identify and implement cost-saving measures while protecting the guest experience.
• Coordinate capital improvement plans with ownership or management companies.
• Recruit, train and develop department heads and staff, conduct performance evaluations and foster a positive workplace culture.
• Work with sales and marketing to boost occupancy, launch targeted campaigns and act as a brand ambassador.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, licensing and all local and federal labor regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing all hotel departments and delivering P&L results.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of staff development and retention.
• Excellent problem-solving ability for guest issues and operational challenges.
• Experience collaborating with owners or management companies on strategic initiatives.
• Knowledge of hospitality regulations and safety standards.
