Head Start Teacher – Early Childhood Education

About the role

Provide a safe, supervised educational environment for children in the Head Start/Early Head Start program, including classroom, outdoor play, and field trips. Encourage parent involvement and coordinate curriculum that promotes school‑readiness goals. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency Head Start performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a secure and nurturing classroom and outdoor setting for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
• Foster active parent participation in all program activities.
• Design and implement curriculum aligned with Head Start/Early Head Start school‑readiness objectives.
• Adhere to Federal Head Start Performance Standards and local agency policies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with an Infant/Toddler CDA credential (or obtain within 3 months of hire).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, with transcripts for verification.
• Classroom teaching experience with infants/toddlers or preschool children (two years preferred) and ability to adapt curriculum for diverse learners.
• Valid Missouri driver’s license, personal vehicle for home visits, and Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
