Grants & Finance Accountant – Nonprofit Arts Organization

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Non‑Profit Accountant to support the financial operations of a small, community‑focused arts organization in Chicago. The role involves managing grant funding, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile bank accounts and financial records.
• Track and reconcile grant funding with organizational expenditures.
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budgeting.
• Manage general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
• Assist with financial audits and year‑end reporting.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting policies and grant requirements.
• Collaborate with leadership regarding financial planning and reporting.

Required profile

• Previous experience in nonprofit accounting.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Aplos Accounting Software.
• Experience reconciling grant funding and restricted funds.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
