About the role
We are seeking an Engineering Design Specialist to create realistic, simulation‑based design challenges that train and evaluate advanced AI models. The role sits at the intersection of engineering expertise and AI research, enabling models to reason about trade‑offs, component sizing, and iterative optimization against physics‑based simulators.
Key responsibilities
- Design and validate simulation‑driven engineering problems with clear constraints and optimization objectives.
- Produce complete problem packages including reference solutions, near‑miss variants, edge cases, and thorough documentation.
- Ensure appropriate difficulty by incorporating multiple failure modes and realistic trade‑offs.
- Collaborate closely with AI researchers to refine problems based on model performance and feedback.
Required profile
- Proven experience as an engineer with deep design expertise in at least one of the listed domain tracks.
- Ability to translate real‑world engineering design reasoning into reproducible simulation tasks.
- Strong analytical mindset and familiarity with physics‑based simulation tools.
Required skills
- Analog/mixed‑signal IC design, power electronics, RF/microwave design, digital system design, FPGA/ASIC development, embedded systems.
- Structural, thermal, fluid, and mechanism design, HVAC, vibration/dynamics, manufacturing process design.
- Reactor and process design, separation systems, combustion and thermochemistry.
- Classical and modern control design, state estimation, nonlinear and robust control, system identification.
- Materials selection, microstructure‑property design, thin‑film and nanoscale device design.
- Optical system and photonic device design, laser systems, wave propagation.
- Aerodynamic and propulsion design, orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, aerospace structural design.
- Civil/structural design, foundation design, seismic and wind loading, geotechnical design.
- Nuclear reactor core design, shielding, thermal‑hydraulics, renewable energy system sizing, grid‑scale storage design.
- Systems architecture trade studies, requirements decomposition, interface design, multi‑subsystem integration.
- Robotics kinematic and dynamic design.
