Data Scientist Intern

About the role

Join Netspend’s data science team as an intern and support the development of predictive models and data‑driven insights. You will work under the guidance of senior data scientists to apply statistical methods to real‑world business problems in the financial services sector.

Key responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy standard machine‑learning models such as regression, classification, and clustering.
• Extract, clean, and transform structured and unstructured data using SQL and Python/R.
• Conduct routine testing and validation of existing models, identifying performance anomalies.
• Create dashboards and visual reports with Tableau, PowerBI, or matplotlib to communicate findings.
• Identify opportunities to automate data‑processing and modeling workflows.
• Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business units to translate objectives into technical requirements.

Required profile

• Junior‑level candidate pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Ability to work under general instruction and follow established analytical procedures.
