Software Engineering & Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineering & Operations Manager to lead our Austin team in developing advanced biometric authentication solutions. You will guide a cross‑functional group of engineers and data scientists while ensuring smooth local operations for our U.S. entity.

Key responsibilities

• Identify optimal technical approaches to meet strategic goals and raise the engineering bar.
• Conduct rigorous code reviews and develop high‑performance embedded C++ libraries.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain extensible components of the core biometric platform.
• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 11 Software Engineers and Data Scientists with full disciplinary responsibility.
• Foster a collaborative, high‑performing engineering culture focused on continuous improvement.
• Translate business and product requirements into clear technical direction.
• Serve as Site Leader for the Austin legal entity, handling administrative and legal compliance.
• Oversee day‑to‑day office operations and maintain alignment with headquarters in Germany.

Required profile

• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 4+ years of leadership experience with direct reports and disciplinary responsibility.
• Strong expertise in C++ (preferably C++17) and Python 3.
• Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills in English.
• Highly organized, responsible, and a fast learner.
