Data Analytics and Performance Measurement Intern

About the role

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) seeks a Data Analytics and Performance Measurement Intern to support the Insight and Accountability Unit. This unpaid, full‑time internship offers hands‑on experience in performance measurement, risk management and data‑driven decision‑making within a global security context.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing documents and research to develop and manage corporate key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Build, process and transcribe structured surveys to support evidence‑based decisions.
• Create and maintain dashboards and visualisations for senior managers, providing user support.
• Validate, process and organise datasets for ad‑hoc analysis and reporting.
• Support the transition to automated data pipelines in Microsoft Azure cloud and Fabric environment.
• Conduct research, compile background documents and prepare meeting materials.
• Contribute to data entry, database updates and the drafting of reports, briefs and presentations.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a university programme (Bachelor, Master or PhD) with official proof.
• Computer literate with proficiency in standard software applications (MS Office 365).
• Demonstrated interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
