About the role
The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is seeking a Customer Service Representative to support its Licensing Division. The role involves processing licensing applications, providing high‑volume assistance to applicants, and ensuring accurate record‑keeping.
Key responsibilities
- Review and process all DOHMH licensing applications and related information.
- Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, record research, verification, and maintenance under supervision.
- Check records for accuracy and compliance with established policies.
- Handle routine mathematical calculations and process payments.
- Deliver high‑volume customer service to licensing applicants in person and by phone.
- Assist applicants with outreach to other city agencies and facilitate inter‑agency communication.
- Respond to telephone calls, emails, and written correspondence, providing applicant information.
- Attend seminars, meetings, and training sessions as required.
- Perform additional licensing tasks and follow all division and agency policies.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
- Keyboard proficiency with a minimum typing speed of 100 keystrokes (≈20 words) per minute.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
