About the role
The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join its Licensing Division. The role provides high‑volume support to licensing applicants, both in person and by phone, while ensuring accurate processing of applications and payments.
Key responsibilities
- Review and process all licensing applications and related documentation.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, record verification, and routine mathematical computations for payment processing.
- Provide front‑line customer service to applicants via phone, email, and in‑person interactions.
- Assist applicants with outreach to other city agencies and facilitate inter‑agency communication to resolve licensing issues.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- Attend seminars, meetings, and training sessions as required.
- Perform additional licensing tasks assigned by supervisors.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
- Ability to type a minimum of 100 keystrokes (approximately 20 words) per minute.
- Detail‑oriented and able to follow established policies.
- Eligibility for permanent civil‑service status and participation in the 55a program.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
- Keyboard familiarity and fast typing speed.
