Banquet Manager, Hospitality and Private Events

About the role

The Skirball Cultural Center is looking for a capable Banquet Manager to oversee catering operations for hospitality and private events. Reporting to the Senior Catering Manager, you will coordinate all aspects of event execution, ensuring compliance with standards, dietary laws, and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and schedule team members according to banquet event orders (BEOs) and staffing needs.
• Coordinate day‑of‑event logistics with the Event Coordinator and develop detailed event schedules.
• Supervise on‑site event operations, acting as the primary liaison between clients and staff.
• Maintain inventory, monitor equipment condition, and report ordering requirements.
• Manage petty cash for cash bars and catering, balancing and reporting as scheduled.
• Assist with payroll tabulation using ADP and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
• Uphold service quality, resolve issues promptly, and represent the Skirball to guests.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a food‑and‑beverage operational role.
• Current California Food Handler’s Certificate and ABC Certification.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Team‑oriented mindset with capacity to work cross‑functionally across departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ungerboeck event management software.
• Experience using Staffmate scheduling platform.
• Familiarity with ADP payroll system.
