About the role
The United Nations is seeking an Armed Groups/Regional Expert to support the Panel of Experts established under Security Council resolution 2745 (2024). The expert will work closely with the Sanctions Committee and the Security Council to monitor, analyze, and report on armed groups and related sanctions.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and finalize updates, ad‑hoc, mid‑term/interim and final reports for the Sanctions Committee.
- Conduct frequent regional and international travel to gather information and engage with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Panel coordinator and other experts to ensure coherent analysis and recommendations.
- Provide substantive input to the Security Council Subsidiary Organs Branch and the Senior Secretary of the relevant committee.
Required profile
- Demonstrated substantive knowledge of sanctions regimes, armed groups, and regional security dynamics.
- Experience working in an international or multilateral environment, preferably within the United Nations system.
- Ability to produce high‑quality analytical reports under tight deadlines.
