Affordable Housing Specialist

About the role

The Affordable Housing Specialist will ensure strict compliance with state and local affordable housing regulations across multiple properties. Working remotely, you will partner with Community Managers and regulatory agencies to maintain program integrity and support resident eligibility.

Key responsibilities

• Review, monitor, and report property compliance with all Affordable Housing program requirements.
• Prepare and distribute compliance reports to local governmental agencies.
• Maintain property waitlists and ensure adherence to fair housing rules.
• Manage applicant and resident documentation, resolve eligibility discrepancies, and handle correspondence.
• Conduct property file audits, identify non‑compliance, and communicate corrective actions.
• Monitor income limits and utility allowances in coordination with third‑party compliance partners.
• Assist Community Managers with income and asset verifications, rent calculations, and household certifications.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes from agencies such as TCAC and HUD, and disseminate information to relevant teams.
• Coordinate with HUD, PHAs, state housing finance agencies, and other regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in affordable housing compliance and file auditing.
• Strong knowledge of state and local affordable housing regulations.
• Experience preparing reports for governmental agencies.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
