Director of Architecture – $135k-$172.5k

About the role

The Director of Architecture leads the planning, design and construction of new apartment communities, ensuring projects meet the Irvine Company’s standards for design excellence, livability and long‑term value.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and orchestrate project planning, site development and building design, both internally and with external partners.
• Provide project updates, risk assessments and critical decisions to stakeholders through workshops and executive presentations.
• Lead and manage outside design consultants throughout all design phases.
• Collaborate with Development & Construction Managers to maintain design intent during construction.
• Work with the Apartment Operations Division to create designs that optimize leasing performance and property management.
• Coordinate with Office and Retail Division design teams on mixed‑use projects.
• Prepare and present project proposals to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience designing apartment/multi‑family housing and mixed‑use projects.
• Basic knowledge of building codes and accessibility requirements.
• Valid California driver’s license.
