Youth Tennis Coach - Oakland/Piedmont (Fall 2026)

About the role

ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars) is looking for passionate, committed part-time Youth Tennis Coaches for beginner K-5th grade students in Oakland and Piedmont for the Fall 2026 season. Coaches lead or assist a weekly after-school tennis program at one of the ANTS partner elementary schools in the Oakland, Piedmont and greater East Bay area. The season runs August to December 2026 and requires availability for the full season.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a fun and safe weekly tennis practice for children aged 5-11.
• Teach the fundamentals of tennis through a cohesive, game-filled lesson plan; training is provided.
• Attend an in-person orientation training.
• Arrive on time each week for the entire season and keep accurate attendance.
• Interact positively with parents, teachers and school staff.
• Set up before and clean up after each program, and transport coaching equipment to and from class each week.

Required profile

• Availability for afternoon classes (3-6 p.m.) on one day per week, for 10 to 14 weeks; classes last 1 to 1.5 hours.
• Reliable transportation to the coaching site; a vehicle is very helpful because equipment must be brought to and from class.
• Responsible, professional and patient with young children, with strong communication skills.
• Experience as a player or coach (at least two years) is highly valued but optional; no previous coaching experience is required.
• Must pass a federal and state background check and/or FBI fingerprinting and test negative for tuberculosis within the last four years.

What we offer

• Pay of $25-35 per hour.
• Flexible schedule allowing a few hours in the afternoon alongside school and other commitments.
• Ongoing support and training, and the chance to coach other sports such as basketball, soccer, flag football and pickleball.
• Possibility of returning for the rest of the school year and weekend or summer programs.
