Wound Care RN – LTACH – Full Time

About the role

Join Ochsner’s dedicated team as a Registered Nurse specializing in wound care within a Long‑Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) on Jeff Highway. You will provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and education for patients with complex skin and wound needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and reassess care for patients with wound, ostomy, and skin integrity issues.
• Provide preventive and therapeutic interventions for pressure ulcers, vascular ulcers, and post‑surgical wounds.
• Educate patients and families on wound prevention, care, and ostomy management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans, including nutritional and psychosocial considerations.
• Delegate wound‑care tasks to LPNs, wound‑care specialists, and unlicensed assistive personnel while ensuring compliance with scope of practice.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives, evaluate policies, and recommend revisions to enhance wound‑care outcomes.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current RN license in Louisiana and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; 2 years of wound‑care experience preferred.
• Experience supervising or managing staff.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous learning.

Required skills

• Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) course completion or equivalent certification (WOCN, WCC, CWS, CWOCN, CWCN, CWON) within the past three years.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications.
• Strong knowledge of wound‑care modalities, assessment tools, and treatment protocols.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
