World Language Teacher (French & Spanish) – Middle & Upper School

About the role

Dwight School, an IB‑continuum school on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, is looking for a dynamic teacher to deliver French and Spanish instruction to middle and upper‑school students beginning the 2026‑2027 academic year. The role involves creating engaging, standards‑aligned language experiences that foster linguistic proficiency, cultural awareness, and critical thinking.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver French and Spanish lessons that meet International Baccalaureate requirements and reflect students’ interests.
• Integrate appropriate technology into instruction and assignments to enhance learning.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school‑wide initiatives.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Required profile

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Experience teaching French and/or Spanish to middle‑ and/or high‑school learners.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom.
• Self‑directed, energetic, and able to adapt instructional strategies.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of French and Spanish language and culture.
• Familiarity with IB curriculum frameworks.
• Effective classroom management techniques.
