Workers Compensation Claims Team Lead (CO & UT)

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Workers Compensation Claims Team Lead for a dedicated client, based in the Blue Ash, OH area with a hybrid schedule open to remote work. The role supervises multiple teams of examiners and technical staff, monitors their workloads, trains colleagues and directs technical and jurisdictional advice on claims adjudication. Colorado and Utah experience is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process complex or technically difficult general liability claims, investigating and gathering information to determine exposure and manage them through action plans to timely resolution.
• Manage the litigation process and coordinate vendor referrals for additional investigation and litigation management.
• Lead team meetings, assign accountability for follow-up items and gather compliance and claims-processing information for meetings.
• Assist in interviews of adjusters and clerical staff and give feedback to the hiring manager.
• Support the team lead with monthly reviews of adjuster workloads, note trends and suggest adjustments; may include up to three direct reports.
• Supervise colleagues: administer personnel policies, interview, hire and develop performance plans, and provide leadership and motivation.

Required profile

• Six years of claims experience, including two years as a claims supervisor (preferred).
• Five years of seasoned examiner experience in lost-time and medical only claims (preferred).
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Home-state licensing; Colorado and Utah jurisdiction knowledge preferred, with limited exposure to Oklahoma and Wyoming.

Required skills

• Claims adjudication and supervision of examiners and technical staff.
• Literacy and computer keyboarding.
