Workers Compensation Claims Examiner - CA (On-Site or Remote)

Sedgwick is hiring a California Workers Compensation Claims Examiner to analyze workers compensation claims on behalf of its clients and determine the benefits due. The role suits a seasoned examiner who values strong client partnerships, enjoys a reasonable caseload and works within a well-managed intake environment. Office locations are listed as Riverside, Ontario and Carosville, California, with other California locations and remote options possibly available.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process claims through well-developed action plans, investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.
• Negotiate settlement of claims within designated authority.
• Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.
• Report claims to the excess carrier and respond to requests for direction in a professional and timely manner.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Professional certification applicable to the line of business preferred.
• 3 years of claims management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of California workers compensation jurisdictional knowledge; SIP required or must be obtained within one year of employment.

Required skills

• Computer keyboarding.
• Clear and conceptual thinking, judgment, problem-solving and analysis, with the ability to handle stress, multiple priorities and deadlines.
