Weekend Triage Veterinary Technician

About the role

Veterinary Care & Specialty Group (VCSG), Chattanooga's largest multi-specialty and emergency hospital, is hiring an experienced Triage Veterinary Technician for its Emergency team. The role suits licensed veterinary technicians and offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Assess incoming patients and keep the emergency room flowing smoothly
• Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patient families
• Support veterinarians and specialists during exams and emergency procedures
• Use technical expertise in phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, advanced anesthesia monitoring and diagnostics
• Keep the workspace organized and efficient in a fast-paced environment

Required profile

• Experience in emergency, urgent care or specialty practice; minimum 2 years of proven veterinary experience (specialty or emergency preferred)
• Credentialed veterinary technicians preferred, but not required
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
• Comfortable working under pressure, with accuracy and attention to detail

Required skills

• Advanced venipuncture and IV catheterization
• In-house diagnostics and medical calculations
• Emergency protocols, CPR, "Fear Free" handling and the "5 Rights of Medications"
