Weekend Charge Nurse – OR/Surgery (Jefferson Highway)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Weekend Charge Nurse to lead the operating‑room and surgery unit on Jefferson Highway. The RN will coordinate patient care, supervise the nursing team, and ensure high‑quality outcomes during weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to deliver safe, patient‑centered care in the OR and surgical areas.
• Assess learning needs of patients and families and provide appropriate education.
• Delegate, direct, and supervise licensed and ancillary staff, managing resources effectively.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate data and promote improvements in patient outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards and uphold Ochsner’s professional standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency with software and web‑based applications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
