Warehouse Shift Manager

About the role

Dot Foods Inc., a family-owned and operated company since 1960, is hiring a Warehouse Shift Manager in University Park, Illinois. The role provides hands-on leadership on the warehouse floor by training, monitoring and evaluating assigned personnel, and leads receiving, warehousing and shipping in line with company culture, service and cost objectives. It reports to the Director of Warehouse.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all employees are trained and developed to meet safety and productivity standards.
• Plan inbound and outbound product flow and labor needs to meet daily deadlines.
• Communicate, coordinate and support all policies and procedures within the warehouse and company.
• Achieve warehouse cost metrics and develop cost-reduction strategies.
• Apply continuous improvement efforts using lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.
• Supervise warehouse leads, staff and floor personnel.

Required profile

• High school diploma or general equivalent degree.
• Ability to pass a standard physical abilities test.
• Effective organizational, analytical and planning skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Full-time schedule, Wednesday to Saturday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some off-hours for on or off-site meetings.
• Working environment of 0 to 70 degrees F, with extensive standing, walking, lifting and operation of warehouse equipment.
• Must be able to travel independently as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (listed as a plus).
• Knowledge of distribution or warehouse processes or systems (listed as a plus).
• Previous leadership experience (listed as a plus).
• Electric pallet jack and narrow-aisle licenses and forklift certification obtained during initial training.
