VP, Community Relations

About the role

Compass Datacenters is seeking a senior leader to own community affairs and public engagement across all campus markets. The VP, Community Relations will protect the company’s license to operate by building trust with local stakeholders and navigating complex regulatory processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own community relationships during rezoning, opposition, and new market entry, creating stakeholder networks that safeguard development and operations.
• Develop and maintain a local issues management playbook, coordinating intelligence, influencer alignment, and escalation protocols with Corporate Communications.
• Lead Compass’s presence at local government proceedings, serving as a credible spokesperson at hearings, permitting processes, and regulatory meetings.
• Support Land Development, Development, and Operations teams with community intelligence, stakeholder engagement, and issue management resources.
• Manage and develop the Community Relations Manager, ensuring the Good Neighbor program reinforces trust across markets.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in community relations, public affairs, or external affairs.
• Proven track record in high‑stakes public hearings, rezoning processes, and organized community opposition.
• Established relationships with local government and regulatory bodies in key Texas and multi‑state markets (preferred).
• Strong executive presence and ability to act as a spokesperson in community and government settings.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
