Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Michael Unit

About the role

The Michael Unit seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to deliver direct nursing care to incarcerated patients within Texas correctional facilities. This position provides an opportunity to support underserved populations while working in a secure, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures following established protocols.
• Administer medications and treatments safely, adhering to physician orders and infection‑control standards.
• Document nursing interventions and patient status accurately in medical records.
• Notify medical staff of changes in patient condition and assist with emergency response as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited LVN program and a current Texas LVN license or temporary permit.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (BLS‑HP) certification.
• Ability to work in a prison, jail, or juvenile detention setting and obtain required security clearance.
• No prior nursing experience required; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
