Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Gurney Unit

About the role

The Gurney Unit needs a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide direct nursing care to incarcerated patients within Texas correctional facilities. You will work under supervision to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
• Assess, document, and modify nursing care plans under supervision.
• Observe and record patient signs, symptoms, and physiological status.
• Deliver nursing interventions consistent with state medical plans and physician orders.
• Notify medical staff of changes in patient status and respond to care crises.
• Administer medications and treatments safely.
• Assemble equipment and assist with diagnostic or treatment procedures.
• Follow infection control, isolation, and aseptic techniques.
• Maintain patient privacy and accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
• Current Texas LVN license or temporary permit.
• Current BLS‑HP certification.
• Willingness to obtain security clearance and undergo pre‑employment drug testing.
• Recent graduates are considered; no prior experience required.
