Vice President, Risk Management

About the role

The Vice President, Strategic Risk leads Mastercard's Strategic Risk function, providing independent risk perspectives and decision support for the company’s most significant initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the lead risk advisor on strategic decisions, framing risks, trade‑offs and success conditions.
• Assess new products, platforms, services and emerging business models, including digital assets and regulated activities.
• Lead risk due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
• Monitor emerging trends, regulatory developments and technology shifts to inform risk frameworks.
• Build trusted relationships across business and control functions and present risk perspectives to senior management and the Board.
• Develop and lead a high‑performing Strategic Risk team, creating scalable methodologies and tools.

Required profile

• Advanced expertise in strategy, management consulting or enterprise risk management within financial services or technology.
• Proven record advising senior executives on complex strategic decisions and influencing outcomes.
• Strong judgment in ambiguous situations, balancing opportunity, risk and execution.
• Experience in payments, fintech, digital assets or other highly regulated industries.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear executive recommendations.
