Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions

About the role

Based in Purchase, NY, the Vice President of Corporate Development will join Mastercard’s Strategy, Corporate Development team and report to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development. The role drives inorganic growth by identifying, developing and executing strategic equity investments, acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑priority strategic projects, structure issues, conduct complex analysis and deliver actionable recommendations.
• Generate growth ideas grounded in market dynamics and competitive context.
• Partner with business executives to align M&A and equity investments with corporate strategy.
• Develop Target Investment Profiles and select top acquisition or investment candidates.
• Maintain active market engagement with PE/VC investors, investment banks and other sources.
• Prepare pre‑LOI business cases, including go‑to‑market plans, valuation and early‑stage integration planning.
• Create acquisition deliverables and present to senior executives and the Board for LOI approvals.
• Assess financial impact and risks of potential deals and recommend remediation actions.
• Recruit, coach and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree; MBA or CPA preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Ability to synthesize market and industry insights and identify competitive trends.
• Experience in strategic finance, M&A, or corporate development.
