Utility Operator 17 (2nd Shift) - Stamping Plant

About the role

ABB's NEMA Motors Division is hiring a Utility 17 operator for the 2nd shift at its St. Louis stamping plant. The position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is onsite. The operator must be able to perform any of several machine functions safely, for a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Perform die setter, slit line, auto press, punch press, annealing lead and crane operations safely, following ABB safety policies, PPE and hazard communication requirements
• Verify emergency stops and light curtains work, check that press release forms are supervisor signed, and report injuries, accidents and near misses immediately
• Lift up to 50 pounds, operate electric pallet trucks, cranes and material handling equipment, and assist with press-line set-up, clearing die jams and end-of-run die cleaning
• Inspect parts for burrs, chips, slug marks and bent teeth, check flatness three times per coil, match parts to blueprints and verify inventory tags against work orders
• Follow written and verbal instructions, read work orders and blueprints, complete documentation such as Non-Con Red Tags, and work overtime daily and on weekends

Required profile

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work standing or walking for long periods
• Dexterity and hand-eye coordination to use hand tools, power tools, electric chain hoists, pneumatic shears and wire twisters
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints and shipping labels, and to use a calculator
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work daily and weekend overtime
