Unit Secretary - OLGMC NICU (Full-Time Nights)

About the role

The Unit Secretary provides essential clerical support to the OLGMC NICU during night shifts, ensuring smooth admission, discharge, and transfer processes while delivering a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with admit, discharge, and transfer functions for the assigned unit.
• Process reservations, manage phone lines, and respond promptly to patient, family, and staff requests.
• Serve as the Patient Experience Ambassador, addressing concerns and directing inquiries to appropriate personnel.
• Review EPIC chart reports to verify accurate unit charges.
• Adapt communication style to respect patient privacy and meet diverse needs.
• Perform additional related duties as required.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• No prior experience required; healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

• Experience using the EPIC electronic health record system.
