Trauma Surgical Technician – Jefferson Highway

About the role

The Trauma Surgical Technician supports the operating room team by preparing equipment, assisting with endoscopy and surgical procedures, and ensuring a sterile environment. This position works on the Jefferson Highway campus of Ochsner Health, providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organize equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical cases.
• Scrub in and assist during surgical and endoscopic procedures.
• Provide direct patient care duties and communicate patient needs to the care team.
• Maintain clinical knowledge, technical skills, and required credentials.

Required profile

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent military training (online programs not accepted) or 5 years of surgical technologist experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
• Physical ability to handle heavy equipment and exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous materials.
