Transcript Editor (1099 Contractor)

About the role

Translation Excellence, Inc. is looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Transcript Editor to join its team on an as-needed 1099 contractor basis. The editor reviews and edits transcripts of audio or video recordings so they are accurate, clear and follow established guidelines, making them ready for publication or distribution.

Key responsibilities

• Review and edit transcripts of audio or video recordings, checking accuracy, grammar, punctuation and spelling.
• Verify and correct discrepancies, errors and inconsistencies.
• Ensure transcripts follow style guidelines and formatting standards.
• Improve readability and flow by rephrasing or restructuring sentences and paragraphs when needed.
• Research and fact-check information, and verify the spelling of names, technical terms and specialized vocabulary.
• Collaborate with transcriptionists and other team members on questions about content or quality.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
• Meet deadlines and manage a high volume of transcripts efficiently.
• Give feedback and guidance to transcriptionists to raise overall quality.

What we offer

• Independent Contractor (1099) position.
• Biweekly pay on the 1st and 15th of each month.
