Training Specialist – US Coast Guard (USCG)

About the role
We are seeking a Training Specialist to provide comprehensive training support to the United States Coast Guard (USCG) aviation community, including the Aviation Logistics Center, Aviation Projects Acquisition Center, and Office of Aeronautical Engineering. The role serves as the primary point of contact for training administration, records, and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the point of contact for all training, record‑keeping, and administration inquiries in accordance with ALCINST 5224.4.
- Draft, present, and update training materials, guidance, and records.
- Develop and maintain training databases for all ALC employees (military, civil service, contractors).
- Provide updated training records to Workforce Management Staff and review qualifications for currency.
- Assist with onboarding new employees by coordinating training data and qualification courses.
- Monitor certification, licensing, and training expirations; notify personnel 60 days in advance.
- Schedule classroom and computer‑based training, and present courses when a presenter is unavailable.
- Maintain records for pilots, aircrews, and maintenance personnel; schedule all required training per Commandant and ALC instructions.
- Support the UTO in handling customer complaints and conduct annual legal reviews of the curriculum.
- Recommend updates to ALCINSTs, syllabi, and standardization check forms.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen with excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with minimal government oversight.
- Strong public speaking ability and experience presenting to large groups.
- Minimum 1 year experience supporting training programs and familiarity with USCG procedures.
