Traffic Control Officer

About the role

The Traffic Control Officer ensures safe, orderly movement of vehicles and pedestrians on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. Working evenings, the officer supports patients, visitors, staff, and police by keeping roads and parking areas clear.

Key responsibilities

• Direct traffic at crosswalks and city streets to prevent congestion.
• Manage traffic for special events and incidents requiring traffic control.
• Assist police officers with traffic control in parking garages and surface lots.
• Issue warnings, notices, or parking citations according to clinic and municipal guidelines.
• Patrol parking areas on foot or in a vehicle and report status via radio.
• Reinforce the smoke‑free policy for all persons on clinic property.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability for clinic‑owned vehicles.
• Ability to complete all required traffic‑control training.
• Physical ability to stand up to 8 hours outdoors and drive a vehicle for 60 consecutive minutes.
• Willingness to work evenings; weekends and holidays only as needed.

Required skills

• Radio communication for status reporting and instruction receipt.
• Knowledge of municipal traffic‑control guidelines and citation procedures.
